If used as a household cleaning product and disinfectant, salt is incredibly effective and causes no adverse effects.
- Keep ants at bay
Salt is an effective ant repellent. Just sprinkle a bit on the spots where ants appear and it will keep them at bay, and also absorb humidity.
- Shiny sink
Mix some water and salt and pour it into the sink. This will unclog it and eliminate the bad smell, leaving the sink shiny and clean.
To prevent shrinking of the clothes, just add salt to the laundry. For best effects, dry the clothes out in the sun.
- Clean the house and car windows
Prepare a saline solution from salt and water to remove the stains from the windows. Mix a gallon of warm water with 2 tablespoons of salt. This will restore their natural gloss.
- Polish silver, copper, and brass
If you do not clean the household items of brass/copper and silver regularly, their shine fades. Yet, salt can help you in this case. Just mix it with apple cider vinegar, and gently rub the surfaces to remove dirt and make them shiny again.
- Fresh curtains and rugs
Prepare concentrated salt water, and soak a cloth in it to remove even the most stubborn stains on the rugs and curtains.
- Rejuvenate your skin
Mix lavender or olive essential oil with salt and use the mixture as a scrub. Apply it on the skin and leave it to act for several minutes. Afterward, wash it off, and your skin will be smooth, soft, and rejuvenated.
